Bear Banner Signing

After a slow start to Sunday we headed down to Chinatown to sign the Nationwide Banner for the Moon Bear Rescue. It was located in Dickson street and there has been similar signings around Australia. There will be 5 signed banners presented at the Chinese Embassy in Canberra on August 8th- a year before the Olympic Games in Beijing. Every signature added to the banner will symbolise one of the thousands of Moon Bears trapped on brutal farms throughout China.
As you can see by the pictures there were lots of signatures and myself, Jonathon, Clodagh and Rhys all added our as well. I have added some pics of us signing the banner and also with Brenda who works with Animals Asia and has been a great support with my fundraising efforts.

It was then on to the boat show for the yearly drool over floating luxury. Jonathon and I go every year, and by the time you have walked on and off 5 or so of the luxury models it is amazing what a critic you become.....scoffing at poor cabin layouts and wrong coloured soft furnishings....as if I could ever exist with such poor taste. You then walk outside and reality comes flooding back......the cost of the of furnishings is more than the cost of the home furniture....oops!!!
Anyway this year the crowds were worse than ever and even worse the boat bitches who decide if you can come aboard or not were out in force. This tipped me over the edge. If you pay $18 to get in then you should be able to go aboard the big swanky numbers....that is what you pay for. Not be told by some over confident she man that the boat is not open.....why bring it to the show in the first place.....All of the smaller boats were open....but hey if I want to see one of these up close I can go to Andrew Short marine any day of the week... Really, they need to take a reality check... Needless to say I did not last long at the show and headed over to the bar to settle in with a glass of wine to relax and wait for the others. All in all a pleasant day and a full weekend...
